The theme of my works is women and their position in society which is of human values. In the general structure of my works women are put against society; and society means all social challenges and phenomena.
The theme of women has appeared in the form of a bride, and it is because a bride has several basic meanings inside her. First of all, a bride is associated with newness and virginity; and this signifies the situation of women in modern times which is a new and disputable issue. And secondly, a bride signifies a happening, that is, a stage of life which happens just for one time and leads her into a new phase of social life.
Meaning in my works is not limited to the theme; it is also based on the composition of all of the elements in a picture. And this is the concept of the picture in general which makes it possible to perceive the picture through a series of contrasts. One of these contrasts is the presence of men in the picture. Their presence signifies the dominant thoughts in society, which in turn defines the presence of women. Men have a vertical structure in the composition of the pictures, so that they have a transitory nature; and this is in contrast with the horizontal movement of women which seems fixed to some extant. In an exact look, of course, there are interactions among the elements of the picture which are associated with instability and suspense. And these are a semiotic interpretation of the condition of modern human beings.
Figures and objects in my works are based on a kind of visual semiotics, the functions of body, and social psychoanalysis. And to find this meaning, besides the external forms of a picture, we should look for it in visual relations such as composition, proportions, light and shade, and colors.
In general terms, the theme of my works is a pretext to make a space in which I can challenge social thoughts and phenomena through a visual language and aesthetic look.
