"The Destructive Self and the Duality of Reality"

Paintings of Nazar Moosavinia are imbued with curiosity, anxiety, wonderment, and doubt vis-a-vis the how and what of reality. "The destructive self of man," "the formulation of an unconventional world," "the inversion of reality" and the creation of a dual and mistrustful space regarding the reality of our world are some of the fundamental characteristics of his works.
In some, angst is represented by darker hues, creating a horrifying and inverted reality that invades the viewer. In others (especially in recent paintings), fear and anxiety challenge the viewer's "ontological understanding of the world" by using cold and calm tonalities, unconventional characterization, precision of details as well as flat and consistent colors, all of which give the works an air of nonchalance, and countercheck the viewer's feeling of threat in the "real world."
Characters of Moosavinia's paintings are solitary people, prisoners of an uncanny metaphysical predicament. These characters seem to be performing an "autopsy of reality" in their own peculiar way.
The artist is clearly inspired, in some of his paintings, by writings of Michel Foucault. "Glamorizing real elements," "the creation of enclosed and penal spaces," "the destructive self and the torture of characters" are registers which the French philosopher had touch upon and that can be found in the paintings of Nazar Moosavinia.
